Daily Sketch: Creature Ink Drawing In Progress
An ink sketch of something Hellish I am working on for some huge amount of hours here and there. I want to layer up the inks, make it darker and fill the whole page with creature elements if I can, absolutely fill the background.
I am determined to keep this just a black ink sketch, if needed I'll use a white pen to whiten some areas at the end.
I've seen some vastly superior Artists draw this type of stuff, but I'm still learning, I need to work out a drawn border into my works to keep them nice and neat.
This will be a licensed artwork when complete.
I tend to have a habit with drawing with not great pens, but easier to use the Zebra Ola gel ink pens, although they are not archival ink quality, I may have to start using pens that are.

The Solitary Life Of An Artist
Life as an Artist is and has been the dream for me. It has been my focus for many years and it has all consumed my life from an early age. The very idea that I would draw every single day excited me and it still does, although there are days when that excitement turns into worry, especially when you don't know if certain pieces of art will sell or you'll make enough to continue with the art that you want to.
I have always seen my Artists Journey in my head as a solitary way of life, that no one else will or should understand, my partner and my now two older Children have no idea really of the stuff I have in my head to draw and the path that I see myself constantly trying to follow and veering off that path frequently.
You wake up every morning not in the same creative energy as other days, for whatever reason, a commission that left doubt in your mind as to your artistic abilities or a trouble with certain techniques you haven't quite got the handle on or even other daily struggles, such as simply paying bills on time and having enough money to eat, all very valid worries for lots of people in this day and age now.
There's the constant thoughts of wanting to create a piece of artwork or an illustration you've wanted to draw for quite some time, months or years in fact and around all of your daily chores you are secretly wanting to get back to the drawing board and get them artworks on to paper or canvas to see if they work out.
Daily Sketch: Dark Cosmic Creature Art (Work in Progress)
Part of a series of artworks I've been working on for several months in between other work.
Dark Dimensional Creatures of the Cosmos will be 10 large A3 artworks of various cosmic creature entities, all in full colour. you may have seen some of the others in various stages of development on this blog elsewhere.
I liked this one with the reds and the blues just contrasting well together. Still a work in progress, as I want to work on utilizing more paint to create layers over the top of the Copic Markers and Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils.
I hope to complete these and I'll show you the full series of themed cosmic art that are very much inspired by the creatures of HP Lovecraft.

Why Do Us Artists Have Lots Of Unfinished Artwork?
I often ask this question to myself daily and the more I think about it, the more reasons why I don't finish a lot of artwork is purely down to having an Artists mind that is always busy with ideas.
Often it is the way of creating any one piece of art that I have many more ideas whilst halfway through a drawing or a painting, that needs to be explored almost immediately and so more creative paths are made and it becomes a complicated mess of trying to get certain artwork done and it's the interruptions of daily life and other works that seems to affect the flow of your work.

Dead Space Necromorph Horror Illustration Work In Progress
Ever since I first saw the original Dead Space video game, I've wanted to have go at a poster style illustration of a classic Necromorph creature and so far here is the ink drawing.
I'll be colouring this in and will update this post further with any updates and possible mentions of future art prints.
I just love the whole Horror In Space vibe that the game has and the creatures are really quite frightening and scary and a pleasure to attempt to draw and realize.
I think they have done a remake of the game which I saw the trailer for and it reminded me to have a real effort at creating something like this as a stand alone piece of art.
Update: Finally coloured the infected Necromorph creature ink drawing. Decided on creating a blue space inspired background with blue acrylic paint and black paint dry brushed.
On the creature I blocked in a lot of the undertone with grey copic markers, cool grays and warm greys to work out the shadow areas and then I chose some fleshy colours with polychromos coloured pencils reds, purples and pinks.
I use some white and yellow pencils to create some highlights around the whole creature, which seemed to make the artwork pop better.
The Last Of Us Clicker Horror Artwork In Progress
For a long time since the Last Of Us the game came out, I've wanted to draw some of the infected Clicker creatures and now with the TV series on HBO/Sky Atlantic I thought I'd have a go at drawing a couple of pieces.
Here are 2 separate works that I'm trying to finish off currently and maybe there will be limited art prints in the future of these.
Early on in the sketch process, I had a loose idea for both Clickers and thought about over exaggerating the fungus growth on the infected bodies of the creatures. The full figure Clicker creature I wanted to include a lot of the background to show the environment surrounding it, over grown grass and moss on the brick wall as well as a broken looking sewer drain.

Daily Sketch: A Demonic Death Creature Ink Drawing
Todays sketch is of a Demonic Creature, an ink drawing that has quite possibly more to add to it as always with some of these ink drawings.
A large part of creating these artworks, one of the main reasons that some are left unfinished is I either get stuck with what more I can add to the design or I get another similar idea to draw and off I go drawing that next image disregarding the one or ones that I'm working on at any one time.
There are definitely more creations that will be in the similar style and excess details that I've done here coming in the future.

Daily Sketch: A Death Metal Creature Ink Drawing
Lately, I've been working quite a lot on concept art for skateboard and merch (T-shirt) designs and also trying to apply more effort drawing the stuff I really love to draw and that is stuff from my imagination.
The written descriptions of HP Lovecraft provide great inspirations for the creatures that I like to draw. This design looks a little wide for a Skateboard, but I guess it could be applied to a t-shirt or some other licensed design.
I use various ink pens such as gel ink pens, as they are cheap and disposable and Sharpie markers for darker areas to be inked.
These types of designs always need developing as I am keen to make them a lot more complex in design with way more inky details.

Mordor Lord Of The Rings Acrylic Painting
I have recently attempted to practice painting with some good results and some of my acrylic paintings are for sale. Time and effort has been put into this particular painting. Although I would have liked to add more stuff to it, but maybe on another painting.
Buy Mordor Lord Of The Rings Painting
I had to include Mount Doom And The Eye of Sauron with the red and dark sky and rocky mountains. I used a reference photo, but went my own way with it half way through.

Daily Sketch: Old Drawings Always Give Me Art Inspiration
This old drawing, I must have drawn it a few years ago and it still gives me inspiration to draw new stuff as the ink details really make me excited about drawing similar horror skull stuff.

Daily Sketch: Neon Green Horror Skull Art
When I plan to go live over on YouTube, often I really don't know what I'm going to draw and this horror skull was created with the ink drawing first and then I had the idea of using some Neon Acrylic Paints that were just not being used.
You can see that art stream replay here - Drawing a Horror Skull Concept
The original idea behind this design was for a t-shirt design, one type of artwork that would have a central and uncomplicated image that could fit on any colour t-shirt (except probably green, who knows lol)
The unexpected glowing look of the neon green and yellow paints was something that looked cool and it gives a nice radioactive feel to the skull.
I definitely will be using those neon paints again!

Daily Sketch: Demonic Parasite Ink Sketch
A Demonic parasite ink sketch concept I drew in a recent art stream here - Drawing Demon Parasite
I wanted the premise to be that the parasite had drained the life force out of the mans head, that's why it looked zombified and rotting away and then the parasite after feeding off it's host for some time, just suddenly bursts out of the hosts chest and eats through the hosts brains leftovers and then on to another host the parasite would go.
Such a lovely design of my usual ink sketchy artwork. This was based on an idea in my head and it turned out pretty much how I thought it would, only a bit better.
I would have liked to add more brain chunks and the eye a bit more mangled in the ink sketch, but I'm happy with the way it was created.

Daily Sketch: Dark Demon Soul Necronisphere Ink Sketch
This is a variation of the one I did here - Dark Demon Soul Art and I wanted to make a few changes, just to get the design looking right in my mind and on paper.
The demon skull had to be a bit more in the centre and the other skulls stretching rotten flesh surrounding it, it was a minor change that I felt I had to do, although I do like both designs, I do feel that I could do a 3rd version of this drawing and mix it up even further.
Something that I never thought about whilst drawing these, they look like pizzas, which was unintentional.
Again, I'm still working on this concept for a t-shirt design and although I like the drawings so far, I feel it just needs a little bit more development and also finishing or rather neaten up the inks on the drawings.
