Daily Sketch: Split Face Horror Ink Sketch

This split face horror ink sketch is a new ink design intended for a t-shirt design. And when finished properly cleaning up the inks, I'll be selling this as a licensed artwork on my art store here - Wayne Tully Horror Art Store.

For a few years now, I've been drawing various variations of this theme, all inspired by The Thing as always. Not really sure were these creations come from.

The process of inking these imagined ideas is always the fun part, to see where the drawing goes from pencil sketch to finished ink drawing.

Art Commission: Entombed In Entrails Ink Drawing

art commission entombed in entrails ink art

I did this commission entitled Entombed in Entrails for a t-shirt or some kind of band merch design, I can't quite remember.

I quite enjoyed inking the fine details on the tomb and all of the entrails too.

Often when it comes to drawing commissions I nearly always have to plan these out and sketch them a few different ways before settling on a final design.

I must have sketched the tomb in a different angle several times until I had the idea of viewing the coffin like tomb from above with the lid ajar on top, it seemed to work best.

If you would like me to draw you a commission, such as this, I do colour work also, contact me through my Instagram here Wayne Tully Horror Art and I'll be happy to discuss working on a commission with you.

Dead Space Necromorph Horror Illustration Work In Progress

Ever since I first saw the original Dead Space video game, I've wanted to have  go at a poster style illustration of a classic Necromorph creature and so far here is the ink drawing.

I'll be colouring this in and will update this post further with any updates and possible mentions of future art prints.

I just love the whole Horror In Space vibe that the game has and the creatures are really quite frightening and scary and a pleasure to attempt to draw and realize.

I think they have done a remake of the game which I saw the trailer for and it reminded me to have a real effort at creating something like this as a stand alone piece of art.

Update: Finally coloured the infected Necromorph creature ink drawing. Decided on creating a blue space inspired background with blue acrylic paint and black paint dry brushed.

On the creature I blocked in a lot of the undertone with grey copic markers, cool grays and warm greys to work out the shadow areas and then I chose some fleshy colours with polychromos coloured pencils reds, purples and pinks.

I use some white and yellow pencils to create some highlights around the whole creature, which seemed to make the artwork pop better.

Daily Sketch: Death Metal Demon Art

Daily Sketch of a Death Metal Spider like Demon creature.

I am pursuing the licensed art sales of a number of artworks here on my store - Licensed Wayne Tully Art and prices may rise depending on how popular or in dmeand my original licensed artworks become.

I seem to draw these black and white horror creatures a lot lately, usually in a state of decomposed flesh and textures which make them look rotten and that is the idea with these ink drawings.

I'm aiming to create more in the series of death metal artworks over the coming months and years in between other art project commitments.

Daily Sketch: Zombie Werewolf Ink Drawing

I drew this quite recently, a Zombie Werewolf ink drawing, a loose ink sketch that I challenged myself to create on a TikTok live art stream, usually the best way of tackling drawing something is to face it head on and just start sketching.

With this particular ink drawing I was concerned about the ink textures and trying to get that right and balance the whole sketch with light and dark areas.

I've drawn many werewolves over the years, but this is the best head shot I've created. Inking hair so that it looks good has always been a challenge, but I've found that if you create darker hairy areas and create a shape to the hair, it works better.

You can buy the original artwork here - Zombie Werewolf Art

Here is a very short timelapse of me drawing this Zombie Werewolf.

Daily Sketch: Warhammer Chaos Plague Helm Art

Warhammer is a great childhood bit of nostalgia and one that brings back happy memories of creative day dreams and trying to figure out how to draw the stuff I used to see in the White Dwarf magazine.

For this drawing I wanted to try and go for the disgusting chaos plague, sort of like the Nurgle creatures with a lot of rot on this rotten helmet with almost intestine like gas mask tubes.

As a kid, I never could perfect the ink work on this or similar types of drawings and so in later life, I'm happy to try and realize this fantasy stuff more now that I love to draw dark horror themed stuff more now than ever.

One of my most favourites is the Plaguebearers and I've never really successfully drawn one that I've liked, so I hope to have a go and see how that turns out.

As with other ink drawings of creatures and monsters I really enjoy inking the flesh textures as I can waste a lot of time inking loads of them details on a piece of artwork.

Daily Sketch: Dark Demon Souls Necrosphere Ink Drawing

A dark demon souls necrosphere ink sketch I did in an art stream here - Drawing Dark Thing

dark demon souls ink drawing
This was just a concept sketch based on an idea I had for a t-shirt design, it may need some re-working as half way through like most drawings I had a better idea, but it still is a valid ink sketch and one that I could develop in time.

I didn't want to make the design complicated and one that would have been difficult to cut out from the white background as most t-shirt designs must be a transparent image.

I drew a similar piece years ago, and I coloured that in green with the skulls not really looking demonic like in this photo.

I guess this is another common theme for me to draw. The thick outline on the top of the design really is bugging me, so I'll have to work on that a bit, maybe get some more inky textures in there to work that thick ink line out.

I love inking this stuff!

Daily Sketch: An Inked Cthulhu Ink Drawing Commission

In today's Daily Sketch I wanted to focus on this Cthulhu creature sketch that I created for a client a few months ago. They wanted a Chihuahua head with tentacles and claws and something that would look quite creepy and horror themed and so this was what I came up with.

cthulhu ink drawing commission
Before I sent the final image I had to edit the tentacles around the dogs mouth as they had to go.

For most of 2020 and 2021 sketching, drawing and inking these Cthulhu themed creatures has become an obsession and one that I happily embrace any chance that I get.

When it comes to the inking process, I love inking all the textures on creatures skin, the flesh texture is one of the most relaxing to do on these monster drawings.

For awhile I've been offering an illustration service drawing these Cthulhu creatures over on Fiverr. And the gig that you can check out is here  - Draw You Dark Cthulhu Creature Art if you or someone you know may want one of these types of creature drawings.

Demonic Horror Black And White Artwork - A Work In Progress

One of many black and white artworks I'm working on. I originally drew this as a line drawing for a colouring page, once I'd scanned that in I decided to work on it a bit more fleshing out the details with ink hatching and other ink splatter techniques.
