Daily Sketch Journal #24 - The Thing Inspired Art

Designing another Thing inspired head drawing based off of John Carpenters film The Thing. This is inspired from the two heads that look like they are being ripped and forced apart, it's the frozen thing creature Kurt Russel and the team find in the Antarctic.

I wanted to make this lightly different and more me than a realistic version of whats gone before. that's why I added one human head at the bottom and something else at the top which helps separate the two heads in my opinion even though they are joined together.

Still need to work on more of the inks for this drawing and colour it with some funky colours.

Daily Sketch Journal #8 - Vampire Demon Chained

A Vampire Demon all chained up was my thought for this quick looking sketch. Again with some previous drawings, this is a quick draft of an idea that needs to be fleshed out more perhaps?

The lines represent the chains and there is an easy way to draw chains see this drawing video - Drawing Chains

I'll update this design when I develop it some more.

Close up look of the Vampire Demon quick sketch. I need to clarify the look of the design and straighten out some of the obvious flaws in the structure of the bones, but I'm not worrying too much about that.

Daily Sketch Journal #7 - Monster Drawing

Monster drawing in the daily sketch journal.  I was adamant that this creature would have lots of teeth. And the monster would look like some kind of Serpent rising from the water. Still needs some work on the background, maybe some more pencil cross hatching stylie.

A thought dawned on me when I am on day 7 of this Daily Sketch Journal post series. What if I work on the drawings and provide little updates as I go? That would be cool, as you'll see the development of the art like a proper ongoing art journal. Look for updates on this and all posts in the series. I plan on posting one a day in the sketch journal forever as long as I am sketching that is.

At Work Drawing

Drawing is a peaceful process and I love it....escaping the realities of the normal world....

Birds eye view of me sketching some demonic creature which is usually what I draw most of the time.

Daily Sketching

Been a while since I tried to do any daily sketching and post the results here, so I thought I would do just that today. A few of these sketches are of projects I am currently working on and mean stuff only to me and the way that my art projects are going, they are going quite well. All things considered I should have done this art online thing years ago, but now I'm here. I shall just do whatever....

This first sketch was a very quick sketch from a planned graphic novel and it sums myself up pretty well as I used to be this Boy looking into the water and dreaming and thinking about the future. (And still am really!) This Boy quite literally has the weight of the World on his shoulders and I can't wait to start work on this graphic novel as it has been around 12 years now since I had the idea for this epic graphic novel series with a planned 8 or 10 volumes.

This next sketch was a random quick pencil sketch of the Clive Barker horror character Rawhead Rex. I wanted to try and add more teeth in there and try and make it seem different to that movie that Clive had no connection with whatsoever. I suppose a re-working of the creature design would be a good move as it sort of does appear quite average looking at this point, but I hope to develop my own personal take on this creature and draw him in future updates. The best part about Rawhead Rex from the short story in The Books of Blood was the vague description that Clive gave him which left open a massive amount of inspiration and mystery that could be conjured up for this nasty vicious  but ultimately awesome creature (There just has to be a remake movie of Rawhead Rex, if Clive ever gets the movies rights delivered back to him by some miracle, I hope he has some involvement with it.)

Demons Power Pencil Sketch A Comic Book Concept

The demon rose out of the amulet as the power was great and filled with intense rage of being trapped inside the amulet for centuries, but now this creature has been freed there is no stopping this evil that is about to be spread on the land.

The drawing below is taken from the upcoming Book of evil a graphic novel that will be written and drawn by me and I hope to finish this soon.

Comic books are a childhood memory I am happy to think about often as I have many of the comic books still to this day and I just love the art form with the art telling the stories and the dialogue adding to the visual storytelling.

Comic books also help with the inspiration factor too like movies and regular reading books, so I hope to show some more of my comic book art on this blog and write about the inspiration processes and successes in drawing this kind of art as I think this may be useful for you to read.

Welcome I am Wayne Tully - A Fantasy Artist And Writer

Fantasy Demon Art Drawing

Hi, my name is Wayne Tully and I am a very creative person that draws continuously everyday, fantasy art drawings and ideas based on stories I've thought up daily are realized and imaginative concepts are what drives me to go on and on, trying to break into the world of either comic books or just create an existence in which I can explore and be involved in the creation of my story ideas and art concepts.

This blog is all about my art and my experiences in getting somewhere with my art in either a professional way or just gain some recognition for my fantasy artist efforts.
I draw fantasy art related material and am in the process of setting up my own graphic novel set of books, which will probably be available as web comic format....Coming Soon!!

All Artwork is © Copyright Wayne Tully 2006 - 2010.

Sometimes I withdraw into my fantasy worlds that I create and often think too much about the characters and how they would react if they was in a film or even real life, more things to do with fantastical monster and creature creation has also inspired me from an early age, seeing the old Sinbad films and such classics as Jason and the Argonauts, with the much laboured over work from Ray Harryhausen, great monsters and and designs that either were based on mythical creatures of greek legend or new creations based on ideas of the time.

Drawing can be quite helpful in terms of realizing visually your ideas, but combined with your written descriptions you have the added value of explaining further the ways and methods your stories play out, giving you two voices in a sense, and these two voices need to co-exist together and compliment each other.
