How To Draw Monster Heads

Drawing Monster heads now with some very quick looks at some step by step drawing examples. The idea with most of these posts is that you gain inspiration or you can follow along and draw what I draw here. Whichever way, I hope you find this useful for drawing monster head concepts.

Drawing a monster demon head

Draw a rough circle shape for the head shape

Draw in the eyes and teeth quite loosely

Draw the outline and extra details around the eyes

Draw in some horns and other wrinkle lines and slight shadow

Draw round head shape

Draw the eyes with evil frown lines

Draw the cheek bones and top teeth

Draw bottom teeth and define some of the lower jaw

Draw chin and pencil shade key areas

Pencil shade hard in the mouth

Define the outline of the monster/demon head

Draw smaller dark details and you are done

Mouth Of Shadow Painting

Here is a quick acrylic painting I did entitled Mouth of Shadow. It is a simple idea and one born from the memory of one of my favorite TV shows Babylon 5. The idea of a demonic mouth in the shadow really intrigues me. What do you think?

Evil Head Ink Sketches

The 3 ink sketches here are all one in a drawing I did and then inked it. The process is a fairly straight forward one for inking. Trying to separate the heads with some darker areas is one good technique to help each overlapping element stand out from the mess of ink lines sometimes.

This is a ink sketch for an evilheadz design in my Zazzle store which is a gallery of products you can buy my artwork on t-shirts and other gift ideas. I'm currently creating lots more designs for this Zazzle store as and when I complete them.

Art, illustration and doodles of Jonathan Grimes

Just thought I'd drop a link here of Jonathans fantasy art blog which you might want to check out with some amazing and quite inspiring artwork. Especially with this Red creature which early on looks like a Small Red Dragon or Demon of some sort, but that may change as Jonathan goes along with this piece of digital art... - Art, illustration and doodles of Jonathan Grimes: Fantasy creature WIP....:

Drawn in Biro - a demon

When drawing monsters, usually I draw with anything to hand, and more often than not I always have a biro handy for writing my stories so I just use one of these to sketch my ideas out, as the same principals apply when applying hard and soft pressure for your shading techniques, and you can simulate some good effects just like you use a pencil for drawing.
